Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the art of inserting small needles into the body to help the free flow of Qi and thereby allowing the body to gain balance and health. Pain is caused when the Qi is stuck or stagnant, acupuncture frees up this stagnation relieving the pain. The same thing occurs with body imbalances and disharmonies causing disease. These can be addressed with acupuncture and other Chinese Medicine therapies.

Cupping

Cupping is the Chinese Medicine therapy whereby glass cups are suctioned onto the body in order to address imbalances and disharmonies and stagnation. Most people find it a very pleasant sensation. You may have seen cupping marks on celebrities or people before, these marks are transient and fade and disappear.

Moxibustion is the burning of moxa leaves (Artemesia vulgaris) to activate acupoints by warming and moving obstructions in channels. It is a lovely calming treatment and is very beneficial for warming up internal cold and helping the free flow of Qi.

Treatment

A treatment with me involves a thorough history so I can hear your story and get to know you, this enables me to formulate a diagnosis and individualised treatment that is right for you. Additionally, feeling the Pulse and inspecting the Tongue and the body are invaluable diagnostic methods I use to give further insight into the condition of the body, the flow of Qi and the balance of yin and yang.

You may be given acupuncture alone or in combination with cupping, moxa, guasha, or acupressure. If necessary you may also be given dietary and lifestyle advice.

The beneficial response is highly individual, it usually starts during the first three to five visits, but you may feel better straight away even after the first visit.

I am an accredited member of the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA) and registered with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia, as part of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and uphold the highest standards of care and ethical treatment.
